- Albufeira is around 40 kilometres west of Faro and has become one of the most
popular holiday destinations on the Algarve coast. It now has over 16 000 permanent
residents and during the summer the old centre of the town with its plentiful
collection of shops, bars, clubs and restaurants is filled-up with tourists from
all over the world.
- The town is surrounded by some of the best known beaches from Praia da Falésia
in the west to Praia de S. Rafael in the east.
- The old centre of the town still retains its traditional charm, with its narrow, winding
streets and whitewashed houses with the typical Moorish style chimney pots.
- The Fisherman's Beach is the main town beach and is surrounded by great traditional
fish restaurants - all the fish is still caught locally.
